Welcome to Jeannene Tedesco
Jeannene Tedesco - Long Horn Homepage
With big corporations taking over producing the food that Americans eat, farmers and ranchers are becoming scarce. Families who have worked outside in the fields for generations are finding themselves being pushed aside. There is one woman in Texas who hasn't given up yet. Jeannene Tedesco was born from a legacy of cowboys who lived and worked on a ranch. Full of pride and determination Tedesco has been able to stand her ground while fighting to keep her family's legacy alive.
Building a Legacy
Tedesco comes from a line of ranchers that has worked with cattle since the west was being populated with settlers. Her forefathers started their ranch with a few head of cattle and worked on increasing their numbers as well as the quality of beef in their herds. As their numbers increased the family gained notoriety for having some of the best cattle around. Her ancestors understood the importance of working for something that could be carried on for generations so that their children would always have a way to support themselves. Tedesco is the current generation that is responsible for ensuring that the ranch is there for the next generation.
Working with your Hands
Tedesco knew that to keep her ranch alive so that the next generation would have something to rely on she had to work fast; she began marketing his cattle and started her own line of beef. Everything is done on the ranch to ensure quality control, and the beef is sent to buyers from the ranch as well. In order to do this Tedesco installed freezers on the ranch in order to meet all FDA standards. Tedesco's ranch has been able to thrive because of the steps she has taken to make herself completely self sufficient. She owns over 1000 head of cattle and grows the crops that are used as part of their feed, which she thinks help with the quality of the beef.
Tedesco has three sons that she is teaching to work on the ranch so that they can keep their family's legacy alive for more generations to come. She has taught them the importance of working hard to make a living, as well knowing when to cut loose and have fun.
